How Rory McIlroy Deals With Worldly Ambition?

Posted on February 22nd, 2012

There is a possibility that Rory McIlroy could become  golf’s world number 1 this weekend. When he was asked about that prospect, he said: ”The rankings are sort of a by-product of what you do”. He is exactly right. They are in most instances irrelevant because to play well and win, Rory McIlroy just needs to focus on his golf and improve his skills. He made this point clearly: “I’d rather just concentrate on trying to win tournaments and trying to improve as a player”. He knows only too well that playing your best golf and winning tournaments will take care of the world rankings: ”If I happen to do that, then hopefully the ranking will take care of itself”. There will be an inevitable boost to his confidence to be recognized as the best in golf; however, it comes after the hard work, focus and attention to detail when practising and playing golf. He has worked hard to get to his current position in world rankings. It’s a formula that gets results and that’s why he, like all the best golfers, continues to work hard on his game.
